If like me you
have been battered from all sides by the recent torrential down pour of
depressing dog media coverage such as dangerous dogs on death row, dog mess
campaigns and children at risk scares you will be feeling somewhat low. So its time to pick ourselves up and celebrate all things canine.
Lets Celebrate our Hairy Mate
Let’s celebrate our hairy mate
Who keeps us fit and healthy
Who covers us in mud and drool
And stops us being wealthy.
All hail to the tail that never stops
Whose desire is eager to please
The snores, the sighs, the constant patter
And the ticks, the mites and the fleas.
Cheers my dears for those soulful eyes
Always on the scrounge
For chips and cake and even sprouts
That kids drop in the lounge.
And huge respect to all those dogs
Who work for the human good
Who give sight and an ear and who warn
That things aren’t as they should.
A big thumbs up to our working dogs
Who herd and tend our sheep
Who also guard the honest man
Who works hard to earn his keep.
And congratulations to all those mutts
Who bring a smile upon the face
Of children left without a home
And the elderly misplaced.
And last of all let's raise a bowl
To those who help the hound
Give yourself a belly rub
And big cheers all around.
